Since 1999, Calypso Diving has been a renowned diving center on Koh Tao, originally founded as a German diving club. Today, it has become an SSI and CMAS diving center on Koh Tao, welcoming divers from all over the world. We offer diving courses in German, English and French, suitable for all levels.
Located directly on the paradise beach of Tanote Bay, Calypso Diving offers privileged access to a private reef. This makes it the ideal location to try scuba, do training courses and fun dives!
Unlike mass-market dive centers, we prefer a personalized approach. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver, we tailor every outing to your level. It’s important to us to guarantee you a safe, supervised and unforgettable diving experience.

Calypso Diving: the beginning
Dennis and Damir, two friends passionate about diving since their teenage years, quickly realized that the underwater world would be much more than just a hobby. It was at this time that the idea of creating their own dive center was born.
While Damir was fulfilling his dream of becoming a commercial diver, Dennis was embarking on a career as a diving instructor. Together, they realized their vision by founding Calypso Diving in 1999.

Our team:
Calypso’s founder has been passionate about diving since he was a teenager. He and best friend Damir realized a shared dream by opening their own diving school in Tanote Bay over 20 years ago. While the Calypso adventure continues on the island, Damir is now back in Germany, while Dennis is raising his family in Hua Hin.
He still oversees Calypso’s communication and will be your first contact when reaching out to us.
Originally from Switzerland, Melany spent 15 years in the financial sector, advising clients and arranging mortgages. This experience honed her exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
After a year backpacking through Latin America, her path became clear: she would use those skills to share her passion for the ocean and scuba diving.
Melany completed her SSI professional dive training in Indonesia before falling in love with the laid‑back island life of Koh Tao. Today, she’s living her dream—working in what she loves to call “the best office view she has ever had.”
This Calypso veteran is a CMAS/ATUS**** instructor. He’s been diving on Koh Tao for over 20 years and knows every fish in the area by name. Originally from Cologne, he knows Koh Tao’s dive sites like the back of his hand.
His trademark: enormous freediving fins and the largest diving knife ever designed, enough to make Crocodile Dundee pale…
Pi Don, our iconic captain at Calypso, knows the waters of Koh Tao inside and out. With years of experience at sea, he guides our boat with calm and precision. A true guardian of our underwater adventures, Pi Don ensures every outing is as safe as it is memorable.
Tanote Bay
This is the dive site where our Calypso center is located. So it’s very easy to get to: just suit up and jump in to enjoy the magnificent coral reef and its marine life.
Reef fish swim through the coral to the famous 18m wreck: the catamaran. You’re sure to come across butterfly fish, angelfish, rays, barracudas and jacks.
In fact, beginners can enjoy this site just as much as experienced divers.

Our Diving Equipment
Calypso Diving Koh Tao is an Aqualung partner center, which means excellent diving equipment from one of the world’s leading brands. Our diving equipment is regularly serviced by factory-trained experts.
All equipment is included in our rates. If you bring your own equipment and regulator, we’ll give you a 10% discount on all scuba diving activities. Diving computers are also available for hire and cost just 100 THB per day. International adapters (INT) are free!
The Calypso boat is 18 m long and 5 m wide, with on-board toilets, a rooftop for sunbathing and a café area, and a total capacity of 20 guests. We sail to all the dive sites around Koh Tao. Our captain Pi Don is highly experienced in Thai waters and around Koh Tao. Of course, snorkeling adventurers are also welcome on board.
